New Year, Same Me

Writer's picture: Abi Cliett Abi Cliett

So obviously as this new year begins, I am determined to create some new years resolutions but I also want to "renew" some of the same resolutions that I made at the start of 2018; && of course why not share them with all of you. So here is my list of new and renewed resolutions:

Renewed 2018 Resolutions:

1) Read a book/complete a book within three months (can depend on work load) - I have actually tweaked this resolution over the years because I believe that reading is so important and coincidentally its actually one of my hobbies.

2) Try new, strange foods - I love this resolution because I am such a picky eater and *fingers crossed* this will help me to broaden food that I choose to eat.

3) Do something each day that makes me smile - This resolution I am choosing to continue over into 2019 because my first semester in college was more than stressful and numerous times I had to take a moment and take a break from homework; (My go to events were to watch a movie or sing a silly song) just doing something for me, something that made me smile, helped me tremendously in the long haul and helped me to be more positive.

Resolutions for 2019:

1) Being Happy With Myself - I feel like I am still trying to find my own voice and my own path in my life and sometimes I get distracted by all the materialistic things in this world and contemplate who I am and who I wish I could be. But who cares. Being happy about yourself and who you are should be the simplest thing in life and it should be easy. This year I want to try and make that a reality, I want to be happy about myself and about who I am; I want to discover my voice and my path.

2) Breathe - When I get stressed I tend to get aggravated and often take my anger out on other people and this is always something that I have struggled with and desperately wanted to change and I am praying that this year I will make a change in the way I react to events in my life.

3) *a silly resolution* Be the BEST Fish Mamma Ever!!! - I knew that I wanted to get my very own little fishy wayyyy before I moved into college and thank goodness I was able to find the perfect little one for me. Hopefully y'all all know my baby Lily and how much she means to me, and I know it is super silly but I want to be the best person for her. I want to continue to maintain to clean her tank and feed her at least three times a day and just make sure she is the happiest fishy ever.

4) God & Grades - These two priorities are tricky to remember which one goes first. Now I know what you are thinking God should always come first and I totally agree; God is the most important thing in my life and I should always remember this but sometimes I struggle to grasp that concept when I feel overwhelmed with homework or studying. I forget that I can ask God to help me in my time of need. I am going to use this resolution to my advantage this coming semester as I embark on my 2019 journey.
